Side effects of using a neti pot???

I suffer from allergies and sinus problems. Every fall and winter I develop at the least a few sinus infections and occasionally bronchitis or pneumonia. It is hard for me to get my allergies under control and my immune system is rather poor. For the last 3 weeks to a month I have had considerable sinus pain- a series of headaches that last throughout the day, everyday, a tight jaw, painful ears and upper teeth pain. I figured that I had gotten another sinus infection. On Wed. I decided to get a Neti Pot and try to clean me up. I used it several times each day. On Sat. evening my nose started running constantly and I started having huge sneezing fits. Sneezes that shook my whole body and sometimes hurt, all right in a row. Then my eyes started tearing and running. I have never had any type of attack like this in my life, and so far, 2 days later, my eyes are still watery and runny. Is this a side effect of the Neti Pot? Did I rinse all the crud out of my head?
