What are zebra finches like as pets - owners or prev owned them only please?

when I was younger my mum built a big aviary & got zebra finches,they are cute they can make alot of noise,but it is a cute beebing noise,my mum had to hand rear one from literally a egg,he was so tame & if you put your finger to the cage & called baby he would come over & say hi.
