The Flood-for those who don't agree with Creationism?

We know that there are many theories that strongly go against Creationism. Since, there are so many findings by scientist that can only be explained as caused by 'A Great Flood', what do you believe? How is it possible for this great flood to have happened? How would the Scriptures that are thousands of years old be able to mention this without any 'research'.
