What is a good way to test the guy out to see if he really likes you?

instead of asking bec. maybe guys wanna use you and don't tell you the truth...what are good ways of testing how much he cares? for example i texted him and asked him if his cl was out (when i think i saw him come out) and that i didn't wanna miss seeing him lol and within a few minutes he was outside waiting for me and we talked for a while = ) any suggestions just to be sure? thanks
